Heartbreak for Jarlath's
THE CRUELTY of sport was laid bare in Claremorris on Thursday as St Jarlath’s, Tuam made their exit from this year’s Connacht Post Primary Senior A Championship despite a storming second half revival against St Attracta’s, Tubbercurry.
The game’s first and only goal, cracked home after 18 minutes by Conan Marren, was the decisive score in a brilliant match, but it wasn’t until referee John Glavey sounded his final whistle that Attracta’s could finally stop glancing over their shoulders.
As for the decisive moment, that didn’t arrive until deep in second half injury-time when an off-the-ball foul on Jarlath’s sub Darragh Silke left Keelan Creaven, the youngest member of their team, with a last-gasp penalty and a chance to steal it.
