Post mortem due on man found dead on Tuam's outskirts
A POST mortem is to be carried out on the body of a man who was found dead on the side of the Milltown Road on Tuam’s outskirts earlier today (Sunday).
The section of the N17 close to the Tuam Bypass roundabout has now re-opened to traffic after it was closed-off for most of the afternoon. People have begun to lay flowers at the scene where the man, who was in his 60s, was found.
Gardai in Tuam are continuing their investigations into the circumstances of the man’s death. The body was discovered shortly before 11 am by a woman walking. The scene was sealed off and forensic examinations were carried out.
Gardai are keeping an open mind into how the man, who is believed to be from the Corofin parish, died and are appealing for witnesses. It’s not yet known whether any vehicle was involved and gardai are awaiting the results of the post mortem.
Anyone who may have travelled on the N17 through Tuam after 10.30pm last night (Saturday) and who may have noticed anything are asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093-70840.
