Garda checkpoints are latest weapon in war against litter

GARDAI are to combine with Community Wardens and the public in an all-out effort to stamp out the worst excess of illegal dumpers – with particular emphasis on criminals who engage in dumping on a commercial basis.
The new policy will involve Garda checkpoints, the monitoring of those known to be involved in the illegal activity and the use of CCTV to gather evidence. Gardaí will also back up Community Wardens in the exercise of their duties.
