Ja Fallon says promotion should be Galway's target

WHEN reflecting on the magnificent career of Ja Fallon, one of Galway most celebrated footballers, it’s easy to forget that success didn’t come easily and it certainly didn’t come immediately.
His fledgling days in maroon and white coincided with some pretty lean times. The Tuam Stars club man made his Championship debut in the summer of 1992 but it took all of four seasons for him to experience a win in those pre-backdoor days.
When Galway turned a corner and success eventually arrived, Fallon captained the Tribesmen to the JJ Nestor Cup in his home town of Tuam in ’95, ending an eight-year wait in the process, and went on to become a central figure in Galway’s renaissance as they ended a 32-year wait for the Sam Maguire Cup before repeating the feat three years later, through the qualifiers, in 2001.
Assessing the lie of the land and where Galway currently sit in the football world, Fallon sees many similarities between today and his own times.
