Mannion provides the magic as Ahascragh-Fohenagh march on

AHASCRAGH-FOHENAGH produced arguably their best performance of the year to claim the Connacht Intermediate Hurling Championship title at the second attempt on Sunday, as Cathal Mannion tore the determined challenge of Ballyhaunis to shreds in the closing stages.
Mannion popped up all over the field to devastating effect throughout, but it was the 2-2 he scored in seven game-defining second half minutes that finally put paid to Ballyhaunis’ stubborn attempt to become the first Mayo club to lift this title.
Both goals came from defensive errors as fatigue eventually crept into Ballyhaunis’ play in the final quarter of their fifth battle in 28 days, but Mannion was crucially in the right place on both occasions and displayed an assassin’s eye for the kill when firing both chances low to the net.
