Heavyweights collide as Corofin aim to strike back
THE CONNACHT Senior Club Championship has thrown up several epic matches in recent times where destinies have been shaped and dreams realised on the way to St Patrick’s Day. For Corofin and Castlebar, both market leaders in their own counties, it’s a competition that provides a barometer of their true worth in any given season.
On Sunday afternoon the Galway standard bearers will pitch up at MacHale Park (throw-in: 2 pm) for what amounts to their most significant challenge in 2016. It’s not stretching it to describe it as one of the current group’s most significant full stop. Not only are Castlebar the reigning provincial champions, they’ve had the measure of Corofin twice over the past three seasons and have struck a rich vein of form of late.
