Corofin remain kingpins in Galway

COROFIN scaling the top of the mountain in Galway football is pretty standard procedure, but their latest such triumph was unique in one way. During all of the club’s successes in the past 25 years, they haven’t managed to do the four in-a-row.
Against Salthill-Knocknacarra in Pearse Stadium on Sunday, Corofin completed the quadruple of county titles. Only Tuam Stars and Ballinasloe have done so in the past.
It wasn’t something that occupied the thought process of the Corofin management or players beforehand though.
“There was a lot of talk about it but we really focused on this group and them achieving their goal and writing their names into the history of Corofin,” said manager Kevin O’Brien.
