Salthill up the ante to ease past Cortoon
SALTHILL-KNOCKNACARRA have developed a canny knack of finishing games strongly in this year’s Championship — something Naomh Anna Leitir Móir, Caltra and Caherlistrane can all testify to — and on Sunday afternoon, their superiority extended to the bulk of a one-sided second half in which they restricted Cortoon Shamrocks to a mere two points and advanced with relative comfort to a third county final in five seasons.
Val Daly and his team will need to overcome some pretty long odds if they’re to dethrone Corofin and add to titles won in 1990, 2005 and 2012, but they’re there and in contention on the back of a convincing win in the opening instalment of a Tuam Stadium double-header.
