Three SFC quarter-finals on Sunday
EIGHT clubs remain in contention for the Frank Fox Cup and although the meeting of Caherlistrane and Salthill-Knocknacarra has been deferred until the last weekend of September due to involvement in the Galway minors’ upcoming All-Ireland final, there is a genuine sense of anticipation building ahead of the three Senior Championship quarter-finals on Sunday.
Top billing undoubtedly goes to Corofin and Tuam Stars, who renew acquaintances after drawn and replayed quarter-finals some 12 months ago.
That’s the second match in an attractive Tuam Stadium double-header that gets underway with Mountbellew-Moylough and Milltown, while Cortoon Shamrocks and Micheál Breathnachs lock horns in Pearse Stadium.
There are also two Senior Championship relegation play-offs scheduled over the weekend. Caltra take on Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir on Saturday in Pearse Stadium (3.30 pm), while Killannin and St Michael’s meet on Sunday at the same venue (1.30 pm).
Meanwhile, there’s one Intermediate Championship tie down for decision when Glenamaddy and Headford replay on Sunday evening (venue tbc, 6 pm) for the right to play Dunmore.
