Dunmore advance after extra-time

DAMIEN Redington and Evan Canny landed the match-winning points as Dunmore MacHales gained revenge for last year’s Intermediate Football Championship quarter-final defeat to Athenry by claiming an extra-time victory in Tuam Stadium on Saturday.
The result books their passage to the last eight where they await the winners of Headford and Glenamaddy, while Athenry have a second chance to join them when they face An Spidéal next Sunday evening.
It was an impressive result for Jimmy Coen’s men, especially when lining out without key forward Matthew Redington (United States).
