Galway's show of defiance
TO DESCRIBE Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Clare as important for the current crop of Galway hurlers would be quite an understatement.
Of the two teams, they were the ones most backed into a corner. This bunch of Clare players have an All-Ireland title in the bank — albeit three years ago — plus National League honours in May. Not enough to shield themselves from criticism of their progress, but still something tangible to point towards.
For Galway, there was little to shout about of late.
