New books in Tuam Library
There are loads of new books in this week for our early readers.
Fans of princesses and all things sparkly will love our new collection of princess storybooks. Each of these beautifully illustrated books features four classic fairy tales, with a princess in the starring role. This is a charming collection which can be read alone by more established readers or read aloud to all little prince and princesses.
Star Wars’ fans will be delighted with our books on Han Solo and R2 D2, these books are perfect for those beginning to read alone and the series also features both the ever popular Spiderman and the X-Men.
Animal lovers won’t be able to resist Jill Tomlinson’s classic series of animal stories. This series features six heart-warming tales, each with illustrations by Paul Howard. Whether it’s the story of Plop the little owl who is afraid of the dark or Otto the penguin chick who likes to play in the snow, these gentle stories are guaranteed to please children everywhere.
Younger readers will love the updated version of the Peter Rabbit books based on the new television series. These adventures of Peter, Lily and Benjamin are fun and colourful and are a great way of getting little people to turn off the telly and pick up a book.

Cassandra Clare, often referred to as the queen of fantasy, has not disappointed with her newest book. Lady Midnight is the first in the Dark Artifices series, and is set five years after the events of City of Heavenly Fire, the last in the Moral Instruments series. Emma Carstairs is now a young woman who has set out to discover why her parents were killed, and to avenge her terrible loss. All of Clare’s books have magic, romance and plenty of dark humour, and will grip you to the final page, Lady Midnight is no exception.
Oasis is the debut novel by 16-year-old local writer Eilís Barrett. The book is set in the future in a city called Oasis, a city that is walled-off from the rest of the world in order to save its inhabitants from a deadly virus. However, attempts to create a perfect society result, inevitably, in a city where free will no longer exists. Quincy Emerson, a victim of this brutal regime, is forced to flee Oasis and discovers that the city is built on a foundation of lies and propaganda. Quincy soon finds herself fighting not only for her own life, but for the lives of all those she loves. This is a fast paced thriller from a talented young author.
