FF leader gives political lifeline to defeated TD

FIANNA Fail leader Micheál Martin has thrown his weight behind defeated Galway East Dáil candidate Colm Keaveney in his bid to secure a seat on the Labour panel in the Seanad elections.
The support of the party leader should greatly ease the Tuam man’s transition to the Seanad as Martin will be instructing his party’s councillors, TDs and outgoing Senators to vote for him.
The move is being seen as evidence of the party leader’s determination to keep Keaveney active at national level and to the forefront of Fianna Fail.
