Cutting house development fees to boost building

THE halving of development fees for house building in Co Galway is a dramatic move to by the County Council to encourage the construction of new homes.
The Council has agreed to cut the controversial fees from €3,000 to €1,500.
The move to stimulate the building of private housing schemes was proposed by Cllr Tom McHugh who said that private house building has all but stopped across Co Galway.
At Monday’s meeting he was supported by all members in halving development costs from €3,000 to €1,500 for the next year.
