Galway end seven-year wait for silverware with FBD win

At Tuam Stadium
WINNING the Connacht FBD League brings a strange kind of glory, but having suffered out west for much of the past decade Galway could take pride and satisfaction from Sunday’s success at Tuam Stadium.
Unheralded and unfancied Kevin Walsh’s gutsy team summoned a brave and battling display to claim victory in this competition for the first time since 2009.
Roscommon arrived with momentum and high expectations, but Galway pounced for two beautifully fisted Damien Comer goals in the opening six minutes.
That start gave Galway something to protect and that was a task carried out with admirable determination and ferocity.
