Bring Tyson to Tuam!
PLANS are being put in place for the new Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World, Tyson Fury, to come back to the hometown of his father, grandparents and most of his ancestors, Tuam, early in the New Year.
Following his sensational victory over the nine-year reigning world champion, Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, in Germany at the week-end his cousin, former Mayor of Tuam Martin Ward, has already been in contact with Tyson’s boxing partner, friend and former Tuam resident Michael Sweeney.
Michael is also distantly related to Tyson and a double first cousin of Martin Ward and is working on plans to ensure that the world champion comes to his ancestral home in Tuam.
“I spoke to Michael in Spain in the early hours of Monday morning and he says the first priority is to get Tyson to Tuam in January or February.
