Corofin favourites for three inarow
IT’S difficult to oppose the view that the Championship’s two best teams remain standing as Corofin and Mountbellew-Moylough go head-to-head in Sunday afternoon’s County Senior Football Championship final at Tuam Stadium.
Corofin are back in yet another decider, with not quite the unstoppable form that swept all before them in the county and beyond last year, but still eyeing up a first-ever three in-a-row nonetheless.
Mountbellew-Moylough are back in their first county final for six years. The nucleus of that '09 side remains: keeper Brian Donnellan; Cathal Duffy, Colm Colleran and Gary Sweeney in defence; Joe Bergin at midfield and their team captain Cathal Kenny in the attack. Added to that is an infusion of quality, young players in the likes of Colm Mannion, Matthew Barrett, Michael Daly, Barry McHugh and Eoin Finnerty who will all be playing in their first final. Sadly, they are still forced to plan without long-term injury victim Joss Moore — a blow for both club and county.
