Shea strikes late to win it for gabriels

ST GABRIEL’S produced a spirited performance to claim the North Board Junior A title at Pearse Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Caherlistrane contributed handsomely to a match that ended in a welter of excitement even though a score wasn’t registered until the 18th minute.
In a wildly fluctuating game Caherlistrane edged ahead in the closing stages, but Gabriel’s finished strongly with Barry Shea supplying a critical 57th minute goal. Ultimately Shea’s opportunism at full-forward proved to be the difference between the two teams as Caherlistrane were left to reflect on a wasteful second half.
