Connacht minor football champions galway are out of the allireland race
FROM the joy of winning a first Connacht Minor Football Championship since 2007 to the heartbreak of losing this All-Ireland quarter-final by seven points at O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Monday afternoon, Galway could have had no complaints about the outcome or the margin of Tipperary’s victory.
Steven Joyce’s team struggled to stay in contention all through and injury problems, before and during the game, were undoubtedly a major factor, but the Galway players will regret that they did not do themselves justice on the day. They scored only three points in the opening half, missed a goal opportunity just before the interval, and then could not manage any more than three points in the second half.
