Ruthless galway make statement in tullamore
IT HAS been a tough few years for all involved in Galway hurling. Since reaching the All-Ireland final three seasons ago, there have been narrow wins over Laois teams they would have been expected to routinely put away before season-ending defeats against some of the game’s heavy-hitters that ate into the morale of hurling in the county.
Against that backdrop, Saturday’s statement win over a lacklustre Dublin was as impressive as it was needed. It not only provided a welcome shot in the arm to Galway hurling, but sets up the summer for Anthony Cunningham’s men and provides a pathway to championship hurling into late July, at the very minimum.
