Galway get job done in carrick but fail to impress
SUMMER trips to Páirc Seán MacDiarmada struck a certain element of fear into Galway football supporters in the early-mid 1990s, a time when Leitrim football experienced some of its greatest ever successes. Since then, however, it’s a hurdle visiting counties expect to safely negotiate before moving on to sterner challenges and Galway did just that without setting the world alight on Sunday.
The home side offered a little more resistance than New York a fortnight earlier, but any potential throwback to those halcyon days was never on the agenda for Leitrim supporters as Galway comfortably made it ten wins on the trot against them in championship football.
