LEAGUE matches in March may not be defining days in any season but as statement wins on the road go, this five-point victory by Galway ladies in Monaghan ticked all the right boxes.
Since losing to Dublin on the league’s opening weekend, the Farney County had embarked on a four-match winning run, including the defeat of Cork, that took them to the summit of the Division 1 table.
The only blot, so far, on Galway’s copybook in their impressive first season back in the top flight came in a narrow away loss to the Rebelettes. In that context, coming away from Monaghan with all three points amounts to an ultra-impressive afternoon’s work.
