Glinsks mick is 21 years making yummy crepes
By Fiona McGarry
GALWAY’S vibrant traditional market clustered on Church Lane in the shadow of St Nicholas’s Church brings the flavours of the world to the centre of the city. At the heart of it all for the last 21 years is a Glinsk man, Mick Silke. Just over two decades ago, he and his beloved late wife Susanna opened ‘Yummy Crepes’, sharing their love of good food and a wealth of experience gathered on their travels around the globe.
It might seem a far cry from Mick’s former life, when he and Susanna did everything from running a bookshop in Hong Kong to working as extras on films directed by luminaries like Jackie Chan and Michael Winner, but there are common threads. Mick is inspired by a love of good food and a spirit of adventure and, as anyone who has sampled one of his crepes on a sunny afternoon will tell you, he brings these in abundance to Galway Market.
