Urban cowgirl and cowboy mary and dominic
COUNTRY singer Mary Duff and new singing partner Dominic Kirwan could be classed as an urban cowgirl and cowboy — their duet Paradise Tonight was given to Mary while on tour in Branson with Daniel O’Donnell last year by Mickey Gilley. His Gilley’s Roadhouse in Pasadena, Texas was the scene for the filming of the movie Urban Cowboy many moons ago.
Over the years Mary has got to know Mickey Gilley, who is a first cousin of Rocker Jerry Lee Lewis, as he owns one of the theatres in Branson where Daniel and herself performed in their early years playing there.
“Mickey is a real gentleman and while he has had an incredible 19 number one records in the US Country charts he is one of the most unassuming people that I know.
“He gave me that song which was a hit for him with US female singer Charly McClain and as I liked it we decided to change around the arrangement a little and adapt it for Dominic and myself,” says Mary.
