Dunne inspires cavan against belowpar galway
By Billy Coss
A sobering day in Salthill with Galway’s promotion hopes dealt a heavy blow as Cavan, inspired by Martin Dunne, left town with two valuable Division 2 points and delivered a reality check on how far the county still has to travel on the road back to Gaelic football’s top table.
Prior to Sunday, only Tyrone and Donegal had left the Galway venues with maximum points over the last three Division 2 campaigns and though Cavan wouldn’t be quite classed in the same company as those Ulster counties, they were full value for a win that lifted them from above the relegation places and into mid-table, just above Galway.
