Good news for glenamaddy as bakery set to expand

THERE is good news on the job front again this week with Glenamaddy’s biggest employer, Westbake (formerly Brogan’s Bakery), set to increase its workforce in the coming weeks.
The company currently employs 95 people and will begin to take on extra staff when it signs a new contract to supply muffins to another major supermarket chain in the UK.
Already Westbake supplies muffins to Tesco stores all across the UK and to its stores in Ireland as well as to most of the other major multiples.
The Glenamaddy jobs boost follows the major announcements that computer giant Apple is creating up to 300 jobs in Athenry and that Steeltech is to move its main manufacturing plant from Galway city to the former Coca-Cola factory at Galway Road, Tuam.
