Corofin complete senior football league and championship double
By Billy Coss
THE CURTAIN fell on the Galway club football season last Sunday afternoon with Corofin making light of the absence of several frontline players to capture the Division 1 League title with a six-point replay win over Annaghdown at Tuam Stadium.
It rounded off a fantastic season for the club and meant they went through the year unbeaten in both League and Championship, recording 17 wins and one draw from 18 fixtures on their way to completing the double for the first time since 2008.
Their priority, of course, remains St Vincent’s, Dublin in mid-February but one week on from Ruislip, their much-changed side put in a fine performance to collect another piece of silverware on a weekend the club also claimed the County U-21 title against Barna.
