Is our robbie the new drico or the new gordon darcy
A STAR was born in international rugby last Saturday when Robbie Henshaw of Connacht gave a brilliant display for Ireland in that sensational 29-15 victory over South Africa at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
It’s a very exciting time for the 21-year-old centre who was widely tipped all year to take ownership of his country’s No. 13 jersey after the retirement of the legendary Brian O’Driscoll, and 'Drico’ himself had anointed his most likely successor when he said, on The Late, Late Show: “At no time, at any stage, is anyone irreplaceable. The team always manages in any sport the world over, they manage to move on from players who have been there for a while. I look at the guys who are there now and the guys touted as potential No. 13s and there’s so much talent there. I really rate Robbie Henshaw in Connacht. I think he has learned a huge amount for a young guy. Jared Payne of Ulster is also a talented player, probably a bit better as a full-back than as a No. 13. He is a world class full-back and an excellent No. 13. I think those two players would do the jersey every bit of justice it deserves.”
