COROFIN have mastered the art of delivering in County finals over the past two decades or more, and another clinical display at Tuam Stadium on Sunday saw them justify their tag as overwhelming favourites and collect Galway football’s biggest prize for a 16th time.
The St Michael’s run has been the story of this year’s Championship and a win in their first-ever final would have ranked as the greatest upset in Galway SFC final history.
That prospect never looked close to becoming a reality, however, as the reigning champions struck early and often to outclass the city side — to all but seal the outcome inside the opening quarter.
