The wests awake connacht rugby teams shocked mighty leinster
TWO nights before the spotlight switched to Kerry vs Donegal at Croke Park, the big news on the national sporting scene was created by the Connacht rugby team with their thrilling 10-9 win over Leinster in the Guinness Pro12, at Galway Sportsground.
A sensational 55th minute try by scrum-half Kieran Marmion, after he jinked his way past the Leinster, Ireland and Lions full-back Rob Kearney, was the decisive score of an amazing game which had a near-6,000 attendance and a big Friday evening audience 'live’ on TG4.
The prodigiously talented Marmion, aged 22, was born in England and lived for most of his young life in Wales; he has a Loughrea background on his father’s side of the family.
