Drug thieves target pharmacies and surgery
TWO pharmacies and a doctor’s surgery were targetted by thieves in Tuam early yesterday morning.
It’s suspected that the culprits were searching for drugs but only a small amount of medication was taken.
Footage from CCTV installed in local businesses around the town is understood to be playing a major role in the Garda investigation and that those responsible have been caught on camera. Gleeson’s Pharmacy on Vicar Street was broken into around 6.30 am on Tuesday and entry was gained by smashing through the store’s windows. Gardai say a small amount of medication was taken but significant damage was caused in the raid.
Closer to the town centre, Leo’s Pharmacy on the Square also had its large shop front windows atacked but the culprits didn’t succeed in gaining entry to the pharmacy. Gardai told The Tuam Herald that all three incidents are believed to be connected and that they are following a certain line of enquiry.
