Concern as many areas running short of graveyard space
A WARNING has been sounded that many parts of the county could experience a shortage of cemetery space if action is not taken now
The concern now is that as smaller cemeteries fill up, the knock-on effect will be felt by surrounding cemeteries, as families seek out the next nearest location to lay their loved ones to rest.
Cllr Frank Kearney is well positioned to comment on this issue, as he runs an undertaking business in Turloughmore. He told The Tuam Herald that now is the time for the Co Council to act and not wait until all available cemetery space is used up, which would force people, at a very difficult time in their lives, to go running around trying to locate alternative plots.
