Tuam's newest cycle lanes run aground as bypass halts project
Hopes of a safer route for walkers and cyclists along one of Tuam's busiest roads have been dashed with the news that a new cycleway and footpath will not be completed for up to three years.
The development along the Bobby Burke road, which links the N17 with the N83, was originally intended to provide a footpath and cycle lane as far as the Demesne Cottages.
But it has been stalled because a new roundabout is planned for the area as part of the Tuam By-pass, to be built as part of the M17-M18.
