Another all-too-easy win for Galway footballers against weak opposition
MISSION accomplished: Galway are through to the Connacht S.F.C. final against Mayo at MacHale Park, Castlebar on Sunday, July 13th.
It will be Galway’s first Connacht final appearance since they lost to Mayo by one point in 2009, at Pearse Stadium.
Remarkably, last Saturday’s outcome at Markievicz Park, Sligo was only Galway’s third win in the provincial Championship in four years — they defeated Roscommon in 2012 and won easily away to London last month.
In 2011 they lost their sole Connacht Championship fixture, away to Mayo; in 2012 they followed up their win over Roscommon at Hyde Park by losing to Sligo at Pearse Stadium and last year they lost to Mayo by 17 points, again at the Salthill venue.
