Galway brought London back down to earth — Sligo next, live on Sky!

IN RUISLIP, LONDON
'JOB DONE but not much learned’ was the consensus among Galway football supporters who travelled to sunny Ruislip on Sunday.
London’s upturn in fortunes and injuries to some frontline Galway players had combined to create a fair degree of trepidation around this fixture. In the end, it proved misplaced.
London were outclassed and over-run from the very first minute as Galway took care of business in a clinical and professional manner to set up a Connacht semi-final with Sligo at Markievicz Park on Saturday, June 21st.
Nineteen points separated the teams at the finish and it was nothing close to the competitive match it threatened to be when the draw was made. As a spectacle, it was a major letdown and there was an inevitability about the result from the opening minutes.
As an occasion however, it left nothing but a positive impression. London GAA may be waiting for the final green light before starting a €5m redevelopment project on the Emerald Grounds but the Ruislip venue has a unique, very special atmosphere on Championship day.
